The Dell Poweredge 2950 is a strong workhorse server. I use them to run Virtual Private Servers for a lot of my online tinkering. They came with two dual core processors that I immediately upgraded to quad core. I upgraded the RAM for a total of 16 GB each. The power supplies are redundant 750 watt hot-plug auto-switching.
I have the drives configured to RAID 10 for speed and reliability.
These servers are great for web hosting. I use Debian as the operating system, and ISPConfig 3 as the software for the web hosting platform. It can be a lot of work maintaining the servers for web hosting, and a lot of money in electricity!
